Netflix has confirmed that the 2D anime spin-off for its live-action Witcher series, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, will be available to stream beginning on August 23, 2021. Developed in collaboration with South Korean animation studio Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender), The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will expand the world of The Witcher with a story involving “a powerful new threat facing the Continent.” Netflix’s The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is directed by Kwang Il Han and written by Beau DeMayo, the latter of whom wrote one episode (“Betrayer Moon”) for the first season of the live-action series starring Henry Cavill.

Studio Mir Co., Ltd is a South Korean animation studio specializing in the entire production process from start to finish. Founded in 2010, the studio has quickly tapped into the North American market with its strong production skills featuring 2D animation sensibility and CGI technology. Among other works, it is best known for The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defender, and the recently announced The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, expanding its traditional platform into the global OTT market.
