Microsoft is currently hosting a Gamescom 2021 Xbox stream filled with plenty of great announcements. One of the bigger ones relates to its exciting cloud gaming initiative, Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Microsoft confirmed that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One subscribers to enjoy beginning this holiday. While an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is required, subscribers will be able to play over 100 games from the cloud with the click of a button. That means there’s no need to wait for an install.

Here are some of the service’s major selling points, according to Microsoft:

  • Discover and play over 100 high-quality games in the Xbox Game Pass library without having to use valuable storage space or wait for installs.
  • Quickly jump into the fun with your friends in multiplayer games, like Sea of Thieves, as soon as you get the invite so you can set sail without waiting for an install.
  • Play Gen 9-only Xbox games like Microsoft Flight Simulator and The Medium on your Xbox One via the cloud – coming in the future.

Xbox Cloud Gaming supports up to 1080p resolution and frame rates at 60 FPS. This aligns with Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), which is available via PCs, phones, and tablets.

Microsoft’s Xbox Cloud Gaming titles can be identified by looking for a cloud icon in the lower-right portion of the cover art.

If you’re in the market for a new Xbox Series X or Series S, Xbox All Access makes it easy and affordable to get your console of choice and two years of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a low monthly price.
