GOG users who weren’t impressed with the level of controller support that various Konami ports launched with may want revisit them today, as the DRM-free platform has released updates that enable full support for modern controllers such as the DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Wireless, and Nintendo Switch Pro. The update also provides optimized default key bindings and a few smaller fixes for general compatibility.

The games that have received updates and now include support for modern controllers are as follows:

  • Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra
  • METAL GEAR
  • METAL GEAR SOLID
  • METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SUBSTANCE
  • Silent Hill 4: The Room

The majority of these games don’t require any introduction, but it might be worth noting that Konami Collector’s Series: Castlevania & Contra comprises five complete games in total. The collection includes three Castlevania titles (Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse), as well as two Contra titles: Contra and Super C.

GOG’s update is welcome in that it will allow Konami fans to enjoy the games in the way that they were intended upon their release.
