Intel’s next major hardware releases are its 12th Gen Core “Alder Lake-S” processors and complementary Z690 motherboards with LGA 1700 socket. These will reportedly be launching very soon.

According to Wccftech’s sources, Intel plans to launch its first 12th Gen Core processors and Z690 motherboards on November 19. These will be “readily available” on that date, which implies that enthusiasts should be able to find them at their favorite retailers before Thanksgiving.

Intel’s 12th Gen Core processors are notable for their hybrid architecture. Alder Lake-S CPUs leverages two different types of cores, Golden Cove and Gracemont, which are designed for performance and efficiency, respectively.

Intel users who update to the Z690 platform can also expect to take advantage of exciting new features such as support for PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory. These technologies boast twice the speeds of their predecessors.

It […] looks like only the flagship Z690 motherboards will be able to support DDR5 memory with native speeds of up to 4800 MHz whereas cheaper motherboards based on mainstream and budget-tier chipsets (H670, B650, H610) will retain DDR4-3200 support.
