Throughput Benchmarks (SEQ and RND)
CrystalDiskMark
We are using CrystalDiskMark to benchmark sequential and random throughput of read and write performance. For these NVMe SSDs we are using the NVMe profile in CrystalDiskMark. This tests SEQ1M Q8T1, SEQ128K Q32T1, RND4K Q32T16, and RND4K Q1T1.
In CrystalDiskMark SEQ1M Q8T1 NVMe test the MSI SPATIUM M470 1TB NVMe SSD performs at the top of the class in read performance. It’s providing 4989MB/s, hitting its top-end 5GB/s speed, and is on par with the CORSAIR Force MP600 in read. In write, it is providing 4268MB/s, and the SSD is rated for up to 4400MB/s in the best scenario. This is very close, and there sometimes is a margin of error, especially depending on the type and file size of the data. This performance is not bad, but it is just slightly slower than the CORSAIR Force MP600 which provided the full 4400MB/s write performance. The MSI SPATIUM M470 beats the pants off the Sabrent Rocket though, it’s literally twice as fast at write performance.
In CrystalDiskMark SEQ128K Q32T1 NVMe test the MSI SPATIUM M470 1TB once again has the highest read performance. It’s at 4986MB/s which is at the top-end of its potential of 5000MB/s. This time the read performance is actually a greater deal ahead of the CORSAIR Force MP600. The write performance is where the previous test was at, 4267MB/s, which is still good, but the CORSAIR Force MP600 edges it out at 4422MB/s. This is still miles ahead of the Sabrent Rocket.
In CrystalDiskMark RND4K Q32T16 NVMe test the MSI SPATIUM M470 1TB performs exactly on par with the CORSAIR Force MP600 in read performance at 2858MB/s. It does fall slightly short in write at 3088MB/s versus the CORSAIR Force MP600 at 3258MB/s. We wouldn’t call this bad though, it’s still a great result. It’s miles ahead on read and write compared to the Sabrent Rocket. Random performance of the MSI SPATIUM is quite strong.
In CrystalDiskMark RND4K Q1T1 NVMe test the MSI SPATIUM M470 1TB once again performs well. This time we find that its read is just ahead of the CORSAIR Force MP300, but write is slightly behind.
