Nintendo’s Tokyo store and other retailers have put the new Nintendo Switch OLED model on display. Photographs that have surfaced show off the new 7-inch display’s more vibrant colors. Early hands-on reviews have noted how the original’s colors seem washed out in comparison to the new model. It will be offered in two options: one with white Joy-Cons and a white dock, and the other with red and blue Joy-Cons and a black dock. Originally announced, in July, it will be released on October 8 for $349.99.

Playing Mario Odyssey side-by-side with an original Switch reveals far more detail on scenery like grass and water on the newer model, while the latter overall looks totally washed out compared to the newer unit. As far as the screen goes, it’s really no contest between the two Switch models.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
