The PC version of God of War isn’t being handled by its original developer and creator of the long-running action franchise, Santa Monica Studio. This has been confirmed by Sony, which told ArsTechnica in a statement last week that Jetpack Interactive is the outfit that’s behind the port. Jetpack is a Vancouver-based studio that has provided “engineering support” for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 for EA and the Steam upgrade of Dark Souls for Bandai Namco, among other projects.

From ArsTechnica:

Sony representatives have confirmed to Ars that this port is being “overseen” by its creators at Sony Santa Monica while otherwise handled by Jetpack Interactive, a port-focused studio based in Vancouver, BC. As this studio has never worked with Sony, we can’t necessarily point to a track record that has us optimistic about this surpassing outsourced Sony PC ports like Horizon: Zero Dawn.

God of War will be released for the PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 14, 2022. The game can currently be pre-ordered for $42.49 at Green Man Gaming with the code OCT15.
