New details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s campaign have leaked online. Infinity Ward has incorporated a new morality system and realistic gore. The leak follows another that claimed the campaign will involve US Soldiers fighting Colombian drug cartels. The game will likely receive a mature rating for the new features.

The death animations will focus on how combatants are injured. Depending on the wound, they may plead for their lives as they die. The new “Moral Compass” system is believed to be similar to Red Dead Redemption 2’s “Honor System,” where players’ decisions affect how other characters respond as the game progresses.

Further adding to the realism of combat, gore will be more detailed. Bullet sizes will affect the amount of damage depicted in combatants. Characters will also attempt to stop bleeding, write in pain, and/or scream. The game seems to focus on the gruesomeness of the war on drugs.

Other details that were shared:

  • New state-of-the-art weapon dynamics with revised interactivity
  • Player’s emotional state will affect performance
  • Player’s emotional state will be noticed in the way they speak, with heavy breathing and difficulty speaking when stressed
  • New weapon-jam animation allowing players to eject and retrieve bullets
  • New feature showing when a bullet is in the chamber and when it is ejected

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
