Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for Morbius, a live-action adaptation of Marvel Comics’ living vampire. Oscar winner Jared Leto stars as the eponymous Dr. Michael Morbius, a Ph.D. and M.D. afflicted by a rare blood disease who becomes a vampiric antihero after a failed attempt at a cure. The film will premiere exclusively in theaters this January.

From Sony Pictures:

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

Morbius name-drops Venom at the end of the trailer, teasing a potential meet-up between the two Marvel antiheroes. Venom: Let There Be Carnage debuted in early October with an impressive $90.1 million haul.
