The Epic Games Store’s Christmas Day gift to PC gamers is Prey, a beautiful and brilliant sci-fi shooter developed by the studio behind the Dishonored franchise, Arkane Studios.

Published by Bethesda Softworks, the game has been compared to other timeless FPS shooters such as BioShock and System Shock but remains notable for its gorgeous art design, shape-shifting enemies, space walks, and engaging story, which ends in a pretty interesting twist. The game will be available for free on the Epic Games Store until tomorrow (12/26) at 11:00 a.m. (EST).

“In Prey, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032,” reads the game description. “You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong.”

Prey normally retails for $39.99 on the Epic Games Store. Following this year’s Deathloop, Arkane Studios’ next project is Redfall, an open-world, action-adventure shooter about fighting vampires. It will launch exclusively in summer 2022 for Windows and Xbox Series X|S.
