Archosaur Games, Tencent, Lightstorm Entertainment, and Disney have announced Avatar: Reckoning, a new MMORPPG shooter set in the rich world of James Cameron’s Avatar films.

Set for debut on iOS and Android mobile devices in 2022, Avatar: Reckoning is built on Unreal Engine 4 and will allow players to visit new areas of Pandora as part of its single-player, co-op, and PvP modes. The game is being developed by Archosaur Games, the Chinese studio behind World of Kings, Naval Creed: Warships, and other mobile titles.

“Avatar: Reckoning will transport players to never-before-seen parts of Pandora where they will meet new Na’vi clans fighting to defend their home, battle powerful RDA troops seeking to exploit the resources of the moon, and encounter spectacular alien creatures – all playable solo or in dynamic multiplayer matches,” reads a press release shared by Archosaur Games.

“Players will level up their Avatar character, equip powerful weapons, and battle through single player story missions, co-op and player-vs-player (PvP) game modes with innovative combat tailored for touchscreens. Built on Unreal Engine 4, Avatar: Reckoning will deliver cutting-edge visuals for mobile devices when it is released this year.”

This year is shaping up to be an exciting one for Avatar fans, as the sequel to Cameron’s original 2009 blockbuster should finally premiere on December 16, 2022. Ubisoft is also planning to release an Avatar game called Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora this year for console and PC.
