Devolver Digital has released a new 10-minute gameplay video for Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem, showcasing the game’s visuals and design. This time around, Sam Stone will be fighting alien mutants and monsters in the wastelands of the Russian wilderness as he chases the evil, traitorous General Brand. The standalone expansion has been co-developed by Timelock Studio and Croteam.

About

Welcome back to the world of Serious Sam in ‘Siberian Mayhem’ – a new standalone chapter in the adventures of ‘Serious’ Sam Stone. Make your way through the vast Russian landscapes on a quest to catch up with the traitorous General Brand, who remains one step ahead of Sam at every turn. The road is long, and there is oh so much to see.

Rather than do a complete revamp, it appears the developers opted to retain more of the signature style already seen in previous games. There is a touch of modern features seen in some of the visuals. Clearly, the team behind it wanted a greater focus on frames, as is normal for most shooters, instead of such features as ray tracing or high-res textures, shadows, etc. The recommended GPUs are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080/RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX Vega 64/5700 (8 GB VRAM). However, another telltale game designed for high framerates is that a 3.3 GHz 8-core CPU is recommended. Fans of the franchise will be happy to know that Sam Stone hasn’t changed, and he’ll have a whole new arsenal of deadly weapons to choose from.

There’s only one thing that stands between Serious Sam and his enemies – a gun. Treat yourself with a deadly arsenal of new weapons, from the legendary AK to experimental ‘Perun’ crossbow, and more! Do you want to cause death from above or become one with 50 tons of first-class firepower? New gadgets and vehicles are locked, loaded, and ready to fulfill your most destructive dreams.

There will be five levels to the game, and he’ll encounter “a gang of new outcasts and unexpected characters who will help” as he completes “side-missions in order to uncover new chronicles these wild places uphold.” Players are encouraged to explore the vast tundra as “[t]he lands of Siberia are huge, desolate, and full of secrets.”

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem releases on January 25 on Steam, and preorders are currently 10% off for $17.99.

Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
