Warner Bros. Games MontrĂ©al has seemingly upgraded the cooperative component of Gotham Knights from two players to up to four players. This is according to the PSN listing for the upcoming open-world action RPG starring various members of the Bat Family, whose listed features now include support for up to “four online players with PS Plus.” That said, a description on the same page states that players can battle their way around Gotham “in solo-play or with one other hero,” something that suggests co-op play may still be limited to just two total players. In any case, Gotham Knights will allow Batman fans to take on the role of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin in a quest to discover the truth behind the Dark Knight’s supposed death when it releases for Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox on October 25, 2022.

The change makes sense given you can play as four characters – Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood or Robin – but up until now it had been promoted as featuring two-player co-op, and this discrepancy has some speculating that the four-player mode may be different from, or in addition to, the main campaign. Hopefully, we’ll find out more next month at Summer Game Fest.
