Conclusion

Today we took a look at the ultra-compact DeepCool KG722 65% Mechanical Keyboard. With a tiny stature, per-key RGB backlighting, and Gateron Red linear switches, the KG722 provides everything one needs in a keyboard while omitting the desk-hogging footprint of larger keyboard layouts.

Our Experiences

Perhaps it doesn’t need to be said, or perhaps we’re being self-conscious – the KG722, like many ‘gaming’ mechanical keyboards, is not a quiet affair. For some, this may be a desirable trait, and for those that have to live with people that like louder keyboards, perhaps not so much. In any case, a push to lower price points for quality mechanical keyboards leaves most noise/vibration/harshness techniques on the table.

But in terms of functionality, as a keyboard and as a package with the included software, no faults were observed. Every keypress was registered, color change inputs were swift, and the key remapping and macro functionality needed to make the most of a 65% board are all present.

Final Points

With its micro size and gaming-oriented Gateron Red switches, the DeepCool KG722 65% Mechanical Keyboard comes off as an excellent sophomore effort. Great fit and finish, great software, and an overall minimalistic approach to a minimalistic keyboard layout leave the impression of a well-thought-out entry for DeepCool.

For providing the whole package in a solid 65% layout, DeepCool earns our silver award.
