Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has reportedly canceled the Russian version of Gotham Knights, the new Batman Family co-op title from Arkham Origins developer WB Games MontrĂ©al. The rumor stems from The Happy Warrior, who, unsurprisingly, explained that its cancellation was prompted by “the political fallout from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.” Adding credibility to the report is Gotham Knight’s Russian site, which is no longer online. Russian-language support has also seemingly been removed based on Gotham Knights’ Steam listing, an indication that both Russian voicework and subtitles won’t be available in any version of the game. Gotham Knights will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 25, 2022. (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions had originally been planned, but they have both been canceled.)

To get confirmation I spoke with some PR people at Warner Bros who are choosing to speak off the record. I then followed the steam page for the game on the Russian side, which shows that there is no language support at all in Russian for the game, not even subtitles.

Rumors about the game being canceled swirled online since March, but now we can officially confirm. Apparently, development with Russian staff and talent was ongoing even a week before the invasion.
