DC has released the first official trailer for Black Adam, a live-action adaptation of the titular antihero who is best known to comic book fans as one of the chief nemeses of Shazam (DC’s Captain Marvel) and his extended superhero family. Headlining the film is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who has been linked to the role of the Egyptian character that counts flight, super strength, and unlimited stamina among his power set since 2014, and ex-Bond actor Pierce Brosnan, who plays magic practitioner and sorcerer Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate. Black Adam will be released in theaters on October 21.

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods-and imprisoned just as quickly-Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
