Some of NVIDIA and AMD’s graphics cards are outrageously overpriced, according to a new analysis that purports to show what the GeForce RTX 30 Series and Radeon RX 6000 Series would cost if enthusiasts lived in a fairer world. Among the worst-priced items shared in 3DCenter.org’s “fair price” charts are NVIDIA and AMD’s flagship graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and Radeon RX 6950 XT, which the publication believes should carry MSRPs of no more than $814 (-$1,185) and $735 (-$364), respectively. A decent amount of graphics cards on the current market have been deemed to be appropriately priced, however, such as the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti at $399 (109% perf./list) and the Radeon RX 6800 XT for $649 (99% perf./list). Performance/price is normalized to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3070, while performance values of the Radeon RX 6400 and Radeon RX 6500 XT are “pure billing variables and refer to the FullHD distance to the Radeon RX 6600,” 3DCenter.org explained.

The GeForce RTX 3080 10GB is still very close, the GeForce RTX 3050 and 3070 Ti are not wrong either – the rest of the portfolio is far off the mark in this respect. On the AMD side, the Radeon RX 6800 & 6800 XT come very close to the performance/list price ratio of the GeForce RTX 3070, and the Radeon RX 6700 XT is also quite reasonable. The remaining AMD cards are significantly further away, but not nearly as blatant as some nVidia top models. One can then argue about the selection of the individual graphics cards for the “core portfolio”, but Radeon RX 6700 XT, 6800 & 6800 XT including GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, 3070 & 3080-10GB not only result in a coherent price and performance area , but are also among the earliest announced cards of this generation.
