Stranger Things has beat out previous records set by Tiger King and Ozark with over 7.2 billion minutes of viewing time in a single week (May 30–June 5), according to Nielsen. It also noted that more than 75% of the show’s 5.14 billion minutes for the week of May 23–29 came from the first seven episodes of Season 4. Nielsen only tracks television viewership and doesn’t include minutes watched from computers or mobile devices, so these numbers could be much higher. Netflix says the show is its most-watched English show worldwide.

Stranger Things has also become the most watched English language series on Netflix, per the company’s internal metrics. The streamer says its subscribers have watched more than 930 million hours worldwide over season four’s first 28 days.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
