Bayonetta 3 finally has a release date.

A new trailer shared by Nintendo today can confirm that the action-adventure game will be released for the Nintendo Switch on October 28, 2022. Bayonetta 3 is developed by PlatinumGames, the same studio responsible for the first two acclaimed titles.

Nintendo has described Bayonetta 3 as an “over-the-top” climax game, one that will introduce a newly designed version of the titular witch who’s known for her sexy costumes and special powers, including slowing time and summoning demons.

Bayonetta struts through multiple locations in an all-new, over-the-top climax action game. Sporting a wicked new ensemble and somehow familiar pigtails, the titular Umbra Witch must face a mysterious evil using her signature guns and time-slowing Witch Time ability. This time, invading manmade bioweapons called Homunculi find themselves in Bayonetta’s crosshairs.

PlatinumGames has tweeted that Bayonetta 3 will feature a “revolutionary” feature called “Naive Angel Mode.” This is effectively a “family room” mode that can be turned on to censor some of the costumes and animations in the game, particularly those that show a lot of skin.

With Nintendo being the publisher, Bayonetta 3 is unlikely to hit PC or other consoles any time soon, but the first game is available to play on various platforms that include PS4 and Steam. The Steam version of Bayonetta was released in 2017 and currently costs $19.99.

Bayonetta. The last survivor of an ancient witch clan who keep the balance between light, dark and chaos. Entombed to protect herself – and the world as we know it – Bayonetta is discovered and revived after 500 years, sparking a chain of events with cataclysmic repercussions.

Thrust straight into battle, with only one clue to her past, Bayonetta must discover the truth and fight for the future. Her daunting conquest sees her face off against countless angelic enemies and giant foes in a game of 100% pure action.

An anime based on the first Bayonetta game called Bayonetta: Bloody Fate was released in 2013. Fans can also find Bayonetta in Anarchy Reigns, a multiplayer fighter from Sega, as well as Super Smash Bros 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Pre-orders for Bayonetta 3 are now available.
