Publisher and developer XD has announced Etheria: Restart, a free-to-play, turn-based action RPG.

Currently in development for PC, iOS, and Android platforms, Etheria: Restart features rich, anime-style visuals, as demonstrated by its announce trailer, which also showcases many of the character designs and sets in the game.

Players take on the role of a “Hyper-Linker” in the virtual city of Etheria and “fight side by side with Animus against virus invasions and explore hidden stories.” Animus are allies that were once “ancestral angelic beings.”

An overview of the world behind Etheria: Restart from XD:

All are buried in an everlasting snow storm in the real world. To guard the only remaining lives, human created Etheria, a virtual world to escape from the reality, to free their minds, sensations, to start a new life.

Everything from skyscrapers, busiest entertainment and business districts to city parks… Beam of lights amongst millions glowing data stripes travelling in the air all come together becoming Etheria.

All of it together construct a fanciful virtual world for Hyper-linkers to drift from battles to battles with the help from Soul-priest Animus allies.

Players will be able to collect character cards to build their Animus teams, all of which feature “all sorts of ethereal abilities and skills together to reveal the hidden secrets” in the virtual world of Etheria. Hyper-Linkers also have the ability of traveling between Etheria and the real world to complete quests.

Etheria: Restart will be released next year. While XD hasn’t provided an exact date of release yet, prospective players can pre-register for the game at its official website, which can be found here.

XD’s other projects include Moncage and Sands of Salazar, an open-world strategy RPG that takes place in “an exotic desert where you’ll recruit, train, and guide your troops into battle against rival cities and factions.”
