Gamers will have to remain patient for a little longer before they can venture into the wizardry school made famous by Harry Potter.

As announced by Portkey Games through one of its official Twitter accounts today, Hogwarts Legacy will now be released on February 10, 2023. This marks another delay for Avalanche Software’s open-world, single-player action RPG, which was most recently intended for release this holiday, according to various press releases shared by Warner Bros. Games.

Hogwarts Legacy will launch on February 10, 2023 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC,” the tweet reads before promising that the release date for the Nintendo Switch version will be revealed soon. “The team is excited for you to play, but we need a little more time to deliver the best possible game experience.”

Chandler Wood, Avalanche Software’s community manager, also confirmed the news with a personal message taken out of the studio’s Salt Lake City location.

Here’s what fans of J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World can expect out of Hogwarts Legacy, per a description from Portkey Games.

Hogwarts Legacy is filled with immersive magic that puts players at the centre of their own adventure. Joining as a brand new fifth year student with a unique ability to manipulate powerful ancient magic, players will live the unwritten and embark on a dangerous journey to uncover a hidden truth of the wizarding world. Throughout their adventure, they will grow their character’s abilities by mastering powerful spells, brewing potions, and harvesting magical plants as they face off against deadly enemies. Along the way, they will meet new friends who can accompany them, interact with school professors, and confront dangers that could jeopardize the future of wizardkind.

Warner Bros. Games created the Portkey Games label in 2017 for the express purpose of developing games based on the Wizarding World. The label’s previous titles include Harry Potter: Magic Awakened and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, both of which are mobile titles designed for Android and iOS devices.
