AMD has revealed its next-generation processors, and in just a few weeks, the competition will be doing the same.

Intel is planning to announce its 13th Gen Intel Core desktop CPUs, code named “Raptor Lake-S,” on September 27, followed by a launch on October 20, according to a Go To Market (GTM) roadmap posted by @wnxod and spotted by VideoCardz. Pre-orders for the Core i9-13900K will open up on the same day as the announcement, while those for the Core i7-13700K and Core i5-13600K will open up a week ahead of launch, according to the information.

The 13th Gen Core “Raptor Lake-S” launch schedule is as follows:

  • September 27 (28 in Taiwan): 13th Gen Intel Core announcement
  • September 27 (28 in Taiwan): 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900K pre-orders
  • October 13: 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700K and Core i5-13600K pre-orders
  • October 20: availability of 13th Gen Core i9/i7/i5 series

At least three K-series CPUs are expected to be announced by Intel, per the roadmap, while Z790 motherboards will presumably be available on the same day as the new processors:

Intel is set to announce three Core K-series CPUs: i9-13900K, i7-13700K and i5-13600K. What, the roadmap does not mention are non-K parts or their mobile variants. Those should also appear next year. When it comes to Z790 motherboards, one should also expect the sale embargo to lift on the same day all three Core series become available.

September 27 happens to be the same day that AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors are expected to go on sale. They include the Ryzen 9 7950X, which is priced at $699 and features 16C/32T and up to 5.7/4.5GHz boost/base frequencies.

Intel launched the 12th Gen Core i9-12900K for $589.
