Ubisoft has announced that it is bringing Rocksmith+, a music learning service with over 5000 songs, to PC on September 6. While at first, it may look like the popular console games of the early 2000s, Rocksmith+ is actually designed to teach people how to play guitar.

Grab your electric, acoustic, or bass guitar and get ready to improve your skills by playing along with your favorite songs in Rocksmith+, coming to PC exclusively through the Ubisoft Store on September 6. The new subscription service will have the largest catalog of official songs ever offered in a music learning service, and will be regularly adding songs with millions more to come through partnerships with famed labels such as Sony and Universal. At launch, over 5,000 songs across multiple genres will be available from a variety of artists including The Clash, Juan Gabriel, Eurythmics, Cake, Muddy Waters, Natalia Lafourcade, Alicia Keys, Boston, Martinho Da Vila, Peter Tosh, Santana, Van Morrison, and many more.

The AI in Rocksmith+ will recommend songs and exercises based on preferences while tracking your progress. The service features a suite of learning tools and users can use a mobile device as a mic for acoustic instruments or those plugged into an amp. There’s also a cable available for connecting to a PC or other audio interfaces. Ubisoft has partnered with many famous musical equipment and instrument makers in the industry to create the service.

Rocksmith+ Partners include

  • BOSS

Subscription prices range from $14.99/mo., to $39.99 for 3 months, or $99.99 for one year. Currently, the service does not support cross-platform use and only works on the platform that it is subscribed for so. The recommended PC requirements are fairly modest.

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4690K / AMD FX-8350 or equivalent

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
