Power and Temperature
To test the power and temperature we perform a manual run-through in Cyberpunk 2077 at “Ultra” settings for real-world in-game data. We use GPU-Z sensor data to record the results. We report on the GPU-Z sensor data for “Board Power” and “GPU Chip Power” when available for our Wattage data. For temperature data, we report the GPU (Edge Temp of the GPU) as well as Hot Spot (Junction Temperature) when available for our temperature data.
The graph shows that the PNY GeForce RTX 3060 12GB XLR8 REVEL runs essentially the same in the default and overclocked orientations. The power draw is 174Watts, the chip draw is slightly higher at overclock and the TDP is 102.4% on the overclocked and 102.6% on the default video card. This last value seems to tell the story. No matter what you ask of the video card it is capped at 102.4% power draw. This obviously affects the performance when overclocked.
Temperature is never an issue. Both default and overclocked the temperature never exceeds 80.4DegreesC. The overclocked Tmax is thanks to the custom fan curve.
For comparison the XFX SPEEDSTER Merc 308 6600XT draws a bit more power at the chip level, 145Watts, at essentially the same temperature as the default PNY RTX 3060 12GB XLR8 video card. The AMD video cards do not record total board power in GPUZ.
