New Line Cinema and Bruce Campbell have shared the first look at Evil Dead Rise, a sequel to the Evil Dead remake that was released in 2013, directed by Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe). The new movie is written and directed by Lee Cronin, while Sam Raimi, who directed the original Evil Dead films, is also credited as a writer. Campbell revealed last summer that he won’t appear in this one, although he did surprise fans in a post-credits appearance as a silhouette saying “groovy” in Alvarez’s 2013 remake. Evil Dead Rise is slated to hit theaters on April 21, 2023.
