Gameplay Performance at 4K
We are going to start with a focus on the 4K gameplay performance with the GeForce RTX 4080 FE video card in raster performance on this page. Ray Tracing will be on a separate page, and 1440p performance will also be on a separate page. We will include DLSS and FSR performance on the same graph in the games that are supported. We will use DLSS on NVIDIA GPUs and FSR on AMD GPUs. For video card comparisons we are using a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti FE video card and a GeForce RTX 3090 FE video card, a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti video card, and a Radeon RX 6900 XT video card.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II
Call of Duty Modern Warfare II was released on October 27, 2022, on the PC and uses the IW 9.0 gaming engine. The game supports all upscaling methods, including NVIDIA DLSS, NVIDIA Image Scaling, AMD FSR 1.0, AMD Fidelity FX CAS, and Intel XeSS. We use the highest quality option of each. We customize every graphics setting to the maximum value for the best image quality and enable everything. We use the built-in benchmark.
In Call of Duty Modern Warfare II at 4K and the maximum graphics settings, the new GeForce RTX 4080 Founders Edition can provide a 97FPS average FPS. This is a very fast performance and provides a smooth and enjoyable gameplay experience at 4K and maximum settings. At that performance level, the GeForce RTX 4080 outperforms even the Geforce RTX 3090 Ti. Compared to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti the GeForce RTX 4080 is 23% faster, compared to the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti the new GeForce RTX 4080 is 39% faster. Compared to the Radeon RX 6900 XT the GeForce RTX 4080 is 28% faster. DLSS can add to performance at 4K if you need a faster response for fast-paced gaming in this title. DLSS adds 29% more performance, taking the GeForce RTX 4080 up to 136FPS, which means you can enjoy 120Hz gaming at 4K in this game on the GeForce RTX 4080.
F1 2022
F1 2022 was released on June 28th, 2022 on the PC and uses Codemasters Ego engine. The game supports Ray Tracing, DLSS, AMD FidelityFX, and FSR. We are going to run the game with the highest quality settings of “Ultra High” and TAA+FidelityFX. We will enable DLSS and FSR as needed at the Quality setting for both. We will utilize the built-in benchmark in the Imola track, in dry conditions with a far-chasing cam.
In F1 2022 we are able to run this game at 4K and maximum graphics settings on the GeForce RTX 4080 and experienced a 156FPS average, which not only allows 120Hz gaming but also over 140Hz gaming at 4K. The GeForce RTX 4080 is 11% faster than the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and 29% faster than the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, and 23% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT. DLSS also can provide an even greater experience in latency, it adds 26% more performance taking it to nearly 200FPS on the RTX 4080 at 4K.
Dying Light 2
Dying Light 2 was released in February 2022 on the PC and uses Techland’s C-Engine. The game supports Ray Tracing, DLSS, and FSR2. We use the built-in preset to set “HIGH QUALITY” which sets the highest game graphics, without Ray Tracing. We manually enable DX12 and ASYNC Compute. For our benchmark, we are using a custom manual run-through at the end of the game hopping between rooftops, as well as free-roaming on the ground city level, as well as a forested area, in the daylight.
In Dying Light 2, this game can be very demanding, but even at 4K with maximum game settings, the new GeForce RTX 4080 allows you to play well above 60FPS, up to 74.5FPS on average. This provides a really smooth and enjoyable experience at 4K and full settings. Compared to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti the GeForce RTX 4080 is 13% faster and compared to the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti the RTX 4080 is 29% faster. Compared to the Radeon RX 6900 XT the RTX 4080 is 48% faster. DLSS also adds to performance in this game, taking the GeForce RTX 4080 up a large 61% to 120FPS, allowing for 120Hz gaming in this game at 4K and maximum settings.
Far Cry 6
Far Cry 6 was released in October of 2021 and uses the Dunia Engine. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing. We have the HD Texture pack installed and turned on. We utilize the “Ultra” graphics preset which sets all options to the highest game settings. This game supports FSR upscaling.
In Far Cry 6 the GeForce RTX 4080 allows performance over 100FPS at 4K with the maximum game settings. This is 16% faster than the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti and 27% faster than the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and 24% faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT. FSR will also improve performance past 120Hz up to 139FPS, nearing that 140Hz gaming performance.
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 and uses the REDengine 4. We have the game patched to version 1.6 and perform a long manual run-through driving in the game’s open world. We test using the Graphics Preset option to set graphics settings, mainly “Ultra”. This game supports DLSS and FSR.
As we all know, Cyberpunk 2077 is demanding. Only the GeForce RTX 4080 here on this graph allows performance at 4K and “Ultra” settings above 60FPS. The GeForce RTX 4080 allows a 65FPS average and a smooth and enjoyable experience.
