NVIDIA has updated its support site with a new UEFI Firmware Update Tool that should be relevant to GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards owners who have been experiencing blank screens on boot before the OS loads when their motherboards are set to UEFI mode.

NVIDIA has warned that this update should only be applied by users who are affected by this issue, but those who are affected can find the download link to the NVIDIA UEFI Firmware Update Tool v1.2 here.

The tool will detect whether the firmware update is needed, and if so, will give the user the option to update it.

NVIDIA has provided three workarounds for those who are experiencing a blank screen but need to run this tool:

  • Ensure you are using the latest SBIOS from your motherboard vendor
  • Change boot mode from UEFI to Legacy/CSM
  • Boot using an alternate graphics source (secondary card or integrated graphics)

NVIDIA has confirmed that this tool can be used for both Founders Edition and partner cards.
