God of War Ragnarök is unlikely to get DLC, according to game director Eric Williams, who
appeared on the Kinda Funny Games spoilercast yesterday and was asked whether Santa Monica Studio was planning on releasing an expansion for the game but suggested that nothing like this was in the works, reasoning that Kratos and Atreus’ latest adventure is already big enough as it is.

“I don’t know, man,” Williams said. “That game is big. I think we put everything we had into it, so I wouldn’t count on it,” the veteran then explained, alluding to the fact that players get to visit all nine of the Norse realms this time, including Asgard, home of Odin, Thor, and other popular Nordic gods.

God of War Ragnarök will, however, receive additional content in the form of a Photo Mode that will allow players to show off their captures, as noted in tweets shared by the official Santa Monica Studio account.

Photo Mode has already been found and unlocked by some players, according to one clip that demonstrates some of the options that can be adjusted, including field of view and facial expressions.

Williams went on to surprise the Gamescast review crew by revealing that he wants to work on a new Castlevania game next, although that would require Santa Monica Studio getting the proper license from Konami.

“You guys can make it happen, because you have the audience of the world here… I don’t know what I’m doing next, but if somebody gives me that Castlevania license, we would love to make that,” he said before mentioning that “just got [him] in so much trouble” and laughing about it.

Williams also revealed that he would have no issue with working on the God of War franchise for the rest of his life.

“I remember talking to someone from another game company, where they were trying to get me to leave,” he recalled. “They said, ‘Do you just want to be known as the God of War guy for the rest of your life?’ That was your big pitch to dissuade me? Because yes, I kind of do.”
