EA Motive’s 2020 space-combat sim that features both single and multiplayer campaigns, Star Wars: Squadrons, is currently free on the Epic Games Store. The game seems to be making rounds as it was recently free on Amazon about a month ago. Star Wars: Squadrons is primarily set after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi but its prologue begins before A New Hope. Star Wars: Squadrons received one of its final big updates in December 2020 with the Update 4.0 release that added the B-wing, TIE Defender, Custom Games, and Server Browser. In a kind of full turn of events, this free offering will end on December 1.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
