Assassin’s Creed Mirage won’t surface until next summer, according to a new report from Insider Gaming that claims the latest mainline installment in Ubisoft’s open-world action-adventure stealth series is now scheduled for release in August 2023 following delays:

Understandably, the date is tentative and subject to change, but the August date was initially set to be much sooner in the year with the game now internally being delayed twice.

The 2023 date already meant that the series will be moving from its now two-year gap between games. But, an August target suggests that we could be getting Mirage three years on from Valhalla if it’s internally delayed again by a couple of months.

Coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Epic, PC, and Amazon Luna, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a homage to earlier Assassin’s Creed games that stars a 17-year-old Basim, the Assassin who gifts Eivor their Assassin’s blade in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as mentioned by Ubisoft in its announcement article:

A shorter, more narrative-driven game than recent entries in the series, Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place 20 years before the events of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as players meet a 17-year-old Basim (now voiced by Lee Majdoub) struggling with nightmarish visions and living life as a cunning street thief. Fortunately for Basim, the Hidden Ones (including his mentor Roshan, voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo) see his potential and help him flee Baghdad to the Hidden Ones’ fortress of Alamut. As he learns their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he will hone his unique abilities, discover his true nature, and come to understand a new Creed – one that will change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.

While it could be some time until Assassin’s Creed Mirage releases, Assassin’s Creed fans can check out Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s final title update beginning today, which includes a new quest called The Last Chapter that marks the end of Eivor’s journey:

Eivor’s story has come to its conclusion in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s final title update. The Last Chapter is a free quest that will reunite Eivor with old friends and foes, and wrap up remaining storylines. Additionally, players can participate in the Shared History free quest, in which Eivor runs into Roshan (voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo), Basim’s mentor and a key figure in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage. A number of new features and cosmetic items have been added to the game as well.

In an article titled “The Future of Assassin’s Creed,” Ubisoft confirmed that it is working on multiple Assassin’s Creed projects, including HEXE, a new installment from Ubisoft Montréal that aims to reinvent the franchise, similar to what it did with Assassin’s Creed Origins, which introduced an open world.
