Dying Light 2

Dying Light 2 was released in February 2022 on the PC and uses Techland’s C-Engine.  The game supports Ray Tracing, DLSS, and FSR2.  We use the built-in preset to set “HIGH QUALITY” which sets the highest game graphics, without Ray Tracing.  We manually enable DX12 and ASYNC Compute.  For our benchmark, we are using a custom manual run-through at the end of the game hopping between rooftops, as well as free-roaming on the ground city level, as well as a forested area, in the daylight.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Video Card Dying Light 2 Graph

In Dying Light 2 we are running the game at 4K with the highest game settings, sans Ray Tracing. The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX allows 77FPS average, which is more than playable, you can play at over 60FPS in this game with this card at 4K, and that is something you could not do with the Radeon RX 6900 XT. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 53% faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT, providing a big uplift from the previous generation. In this game, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is closer in performance to the GeForce RTX 4080 than the 4090, but it is just slightly above the 4080 by 3%. The RX 7900 XTX is, however, 23% slower than the GeForce RTX 4090, which is quite a bit faster at nearly 100FPS at 4K.

FSR2 also greatly improves performance once again on the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX. In this game, FSR2 adds a whopping 60% more performance bringing it up to 123FPS, which at this performance level also matches the GeForce RTX 4080 with DLSS. With FSR2, the 7900 XTX is 22% slower than the GeForce RTX 4090 with DLSS.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 was released in October of 2021 and uses the Dunia Engine. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing. We have the HD Texture pack installed and turned on. We utilize the “Ultra” graphics preset which sets all options to the highest game settings. This game supports FSR upscaling.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Video Card Far Cry 6 Graph

In Far Cry 6, we are running the game at 4K with the highest in-game settings, and HD Textures. The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX allows a very playable game at over 100FPS, in this case, 121FPS. It is 44% faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT previous generation video card. In this game, it is actually closer to GeForce RTX 4090 performance than it is to the 4080. AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX Video Card Cyberpunk 2077 Graph

This is a game we are sure a lot of you are curious about. In Cyberpunk 2077, we have the latest patch installed and are running at 4K with the Graphics Preset on “Ultra.” The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX has a very playable gameplay experience in this game at 4K at 70FPS. This is way more than the Radeon RX 6900 XT offered. The Radeon RX 6900 XT was not playable at all at 4K with “Ultra” settings, but the new Radeon RX 7900 XTX is very much playable, and above 60FPS as well. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is a very big 63% faster than the Radeon RX 6900 XT in this game. That’s the largest performance uplift versus the previous generation that we’ve seen yet. At this performance level, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 8% faster than the GeForce RTX 4080 and 17% slower than the GeForce RTX 4090. It is closer to 4080 performance but does edge out that GPU in performance.

FSR adds a little to performance, as does DLSS. For the Radeon RX 7900 XTX FSR adds 10% more performance. Adding upscaling doesn’t change the relationship between the GPUs, they still fall within the same scaling compared to each other, just with faster framerates. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX is very playable at 77FPS average with FSR, but the 4090 does bring you to nearly 90FPS with DLSS. The Radeon RX 6900 XT wasn’t even playable even with FSR though, so the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is a big improvement over that video card.

Watch Dogs Legion

Watch Dogs Legion was released on the PC in October of 2020 and uses the Disrupt game engine. We utilize the built-in benchmark for testing. We have the HD Texture pack installed and enabled for testing. We use the built-in graphics preset of “Ultra” for testing. This game supports DLSS upscaling.

In Watch Dogs Legion we are running the game at 4K with the “Ultra” preset selected. The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX is very playable at 97FPS, for a very enjoyable 4K gaming experience. The Radeon RX 6900 XT could only manage just 60FPS. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX improves performance by 54% over the Radeon RX 6900 XT previous generation GPU. In this game, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX is 11% faster than the GeForce RTX 4080 and 16% slower than the GeForce RTX 4090. It is therefore closer to RTX 4080 performance but does edge it out. The GeForce RTX GPUs can enable DLSS in this game, which brings their performance to over 100FPS, even 141FPS on the RTX 4090. The Radeon RX GPUs have no game-supported upscaling method in this game, but the RX 7900 XTX is still playable at any rate without it.
