AMD Announces Ryzen 7000X3D Series, Radeon RX 7000 Series Graphics for Laptops, and More at CES 2023

AMD has confirmed that its family of Zen 4 desktop CPUs will be expanding with the addition of three new 65-watt Ryzen 7000 Series processors and three new Ryzen 7000X3D Series processors with 3D V-cache Technology, something that AMD says enables the premium CPUs to offer the ultimate performance for gamers.

“These new Ryzen 7000X3D are the fastest gaming processors in the world,” AMD stated in its press release. “With up to 14% faster performance than the previous generation. The AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors with 3D V-Cache technology will be available for Socket AM5 starting February 2023.”

According to a slide that AMD displayed during today’s CES 2023 keynote, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D beats the 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900K by 24% in select games that include Horizon Zero Dawn in 1920×1080 resolution under the high image quality preset.

Prices for the chips appear to be unconfirmed at this time.

“Built on the ‘Zen 4’ architecture and featuring a 65W TDP, the new Ryzen processors are optimized for both efficiency and performance, and come with an included AMD Wraith cooler, expanding options and entry points to the Socket AM5 ecosystem,” AMD said of its new non-X options. “And with one-click overclocking with Precision Boost Overdrive, you can get an instant performance boost of up to 39% with a water-cooled Ryzen 9 7900 processor. The processors announced today are expected to be available starting January 10.”

AMD Chair and CEO Dr. Lisa Su revealed during her presentation that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be bundled with select Ryzen 7000 Series processors, although it seems to be unclear which models will be eligible.

Ryzen 7045HX Processors for Mobile

Complementing AMD’s new desktop chips are a slew of new Ryzen mobile processors, including the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX, a new flagship mobile processor that features 16 cores and 32 threads, and the Ryzen 7030 Series, which include built-in Radeon graphics.

Last but not least, AMD announced its Radeon RX 7000 Series Graphics for Laptops in the form of the Radeon RX 7000S Series and Radeon RX 7000M Series, the latter of which offers 26% higher performance on average than the previous generation, according to AMD.

  • AMD Radiance Display Engine – Provides 12 bit-per-channel color for up to 68 billion colors and higher refresh rate displays compared to AMD RDNA 2 architecture, and includes support for DisplayPort 2.1.
  • AV1 Encoding – Unlocks new multimedia experiences with full AV1 encode support, designed for ultra-high definition resolutions, wide color gamut, and HDR enhancements.
  • AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution technology (FSR) – Now available and upcoming in 230 games4, FSR boosts framerates in supported games while delivering incredible image quality.

AMD has published the key specifications for its Radeon RX 7000M Series and Radeon RX 7000S Series Graphics here, which shows the Radeon RX 7600M XT with 32 compute units, a game frequency of 2,300 MHz, 32 MB of Infinity Cache, and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory.
