Embracer Group acquired Middle-earth Enterprises in August 2022, granting it the intellectual property rights to video games based on the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit franchises, and the company appears to have wasted no time in planning on how to capitalize on them. According to Embracer’s Q3 Report for 2022/2023, there are currently five Lord of the Rings in development, all of which are slated to release within the next 24 months. One of these is presumably The Lord of the Rings: Gollum (2023), an upcoming cinematic stealth adventure from Daedalic Entertainment that Embracer will be earning royalties from.
