From an ASUS Edge Up article:

Before you make plans to build or update your PC for the new Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs, first ensure that your motherboard supports them. The latest firmware versions for our X670E and X670 motherboards support these new chips from day one. If you’re upgrading your existing system, update your BIOS to the latest version for the best possible experience.

Even if you’re buying a brand-new motherboard to accompany your new chip, you should check that it’s prepped with the latest firmware. We make every effort to ensure that our motherboards leave the factory with the latest updates installed. However, if you’re building a new PC shortly after the launch of these new CPUs, there is a chance that you may receive a motherboard from older stock without the necessary firmware.
