Gameplay Performance at 4K with Ray Tracing
For this section, we enable Ray Tracing in the game. All the settings otherwise remain unchanged, 4K with all the dials turned up as high as they go. DLSS and FSR are once again utilized where it is suitable and supported by the game.
F1 2022
F1 is very challenging with Ray Tracing enabled. Neither of our cards can mark a playable framerate without help. The game is very choppy without upscaling. The RTX 4070 Ti is 14% faster. With upscaling the cards improve and are essentially even.
Dying Light 2
Again we see the game change with Ray Tracing enabled. Both cards are humbled. The RTX 4070 Ti is 16% faster but unplayable. With upscaling only the RTX 4070 Ti touches the playable line of 60FPS. This is 14% better than our PULSE RX 7900 XT.
Far Cry 6
One can see by the results and frame rates, that DXR is much easier on the graphic cards. In this case, the SAPPHIRE PULSE RX 7900 XT is 17% faster than the RTX 4070 Ti. Overclocking is faster yet at a 5% boost. FSR also allows very fast FPS and a 17% advantage for the PULSE RX 7900 XT.
Cyberpunk 2077
This game is essentially unplayable for these two graphics cards in these settings. Enabling upscaling allows you to go from a crawl to a slow walk through the game. The RTX 4070 Ti is 21% faster and 34% faster which would be nice if it was playable.
Watch Dogs Legion
Once more we see the same overall drubbing by the game with Ray Tracing enabled. Not playable until this time the RTX 4070 Ti reaches 61 FPS with DLSS. We can’t comment on the RX 7900 XT because there is no FSR. The RTX 4070 Ti is 24% faster but is not much of a win at 36FPS.
Metro Exodus Enhanced
This game includes a very nice benchmark mode. It leans very heavily into Ray Tracing and is demanding. We run the benchmark on the “Extreme” settings and use “Ultra” Ray Tracing. DLSS is supported, and Hairworks and Physx are also supported.
Here we see once more that the Ray Tracing demands are rough. Neither card does well until upscaling is enabled, but no FSR though. The RTX 4070 Ti has a 13% edge. Our overclocked PULSE RX 7900 XT does get close, within 5% but with little solace at 39FPS.
