Welcome to the first of our Computex 2023 roundup articles in which we’ll cover products from different manufacturers on each day. Our own David Schroth has been in Taipei meeting with representatives and getting us firsthand photos from the show. This first article is from Seasonic’s booth.

Seasonic has been in business for over 40 years and is well known for its OEM and consumer power supply offerings. On the consumer level, it has branched out over the years and now offers product lines including PC cases, cooling, and accessories. What we have here are a number of their power supplies, including fanless options for silent running, PSU accessories including 90° 24-pin adapter that also serves as a PSU tester, 12VHPWR cables, and Seasonic’s new MagFlow cooling fans that use magnets to connect to each other.

ATX Power Supplies

Seasonic had a wide range of power supplies on display. There was something for everybody ranging from low-wattage fanless options for those aiming for silence all the way up to 1600 watts for even the most power-hungry rigs, all except the fanless models are ATX 3.0-PCIe 5.0 ready and include a 16-pin 12VHPWR cable. The following list matches the above photos starting from the top row, going from left to right.

While these will be the initial ATX 3.0 supplies from Seasonic, they will eventually refresh the Focus, Vertex and Prime product lines all to ATX 3.0 at each of the 80PLUS efficiency levels that they offer. These will be the first batch to the market and we will see them arriving in Q3 of 2023.

Power Supply Accessories

12VHPWR Product Description:

“Seasonic introduces the 12VHPWR 600 W graphics card cable to power high-performance GPU / graphic cards. This cable can be used with many of our current and past power supplies but with specific compatibility requirements. Please see below for important compatibility information.”

  • ATX 24-Pin 90° Adapter: This nifty right-angle adapter serves two purposes by helping with cable management but is also a PSU tester. ATX compatibility, PSU tester with light indicator, user-friendly installation, space-saving cabling. This adapter will be included with higher end power supplies and available for purchase as an accessory in the $25 ballpark for everyone else.
  • 16-Pin Gen 5 12VHPWR White / Black 600 W Cables: Design for next-gen GPUs requiring 12VHPWR connector, Cable connectors (GPU side-12VHPWR, PSU side 2x 8-pin), 16 AWG size wire, HCS (High-Current System) terminals with 94V-0 plastic material for 8-pin housing, sleek looking, designed for 30 industry-standard mating cycles

MagFlow Fan Kits

MagFlow Product Description:

“Thanks to the very innovative magnetic connection system, the installation of new MagFlow fans will be fast and effortless. Customers will have the choice to purchase single fan kits or a 3-Fan kit, depending on their needs to create the most efficient cooling for the PC components or radiators.”

This is Seasonic’s first venture into the fan market and have jumped on board with magnetic attaching fans so you only have to connect a cable to one of them to get your breeze on. These should also arrive in the Q3 ballpark and we’re expecting a 3 pack to run somewhere between $100 or just north of that.

  • 3-Fan Kit: Simple cable management with flexible fan installation options which allow daisy-chaining of fans featuring fluid dynamic bearings and a 3-year warranty.
  • ARGB 3-Fan Kit: Simple cable management with flexible fan installation options which allow daisy-chaining of fans featuring fluid dynamic bearings, ARGB light effect, Fan controller, and a 3-year warranty.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
