Internal documents from a recent financial report indicate that the racing game may potentially be getting its release date yet again pushed back. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is being developed by KT Racing and published by Nacon. Announced in 2020 the next installment of the long-running franchise had originally been said to arrive in September 2022 for console and PC. That date was pushed back to 2023 per an update from Nacon last May that more time would be needed for polishing but plans for older consoles, the Xbox One and PS4, had been scrapped to ensure greater support for current technology.

Presently the home page for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown still says “available in 2023” but the internal documents discovered by Proteus Gaming (via VGC) show it as arriving in the first half of 2024, specifically sometime around February or March. Now this could just be a placeholder on the publisher’s schedule in order to allow for unforeseen delays as it’s been rumored that a recent beta test has concluded. Additionally, there have been periodic Solar Club Letters on Steam with the latest having been posted on May 17. Lastly, there have also been screenshots released with captions indicating they were taken from an alpha build of the game.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
