Introduction

Today we’re taking a look at addlink’s AddGame Spider X5 RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 6400MHz memory kit (B0BWF5NLS5) to see how it performs on our Rocket Lake test bed and whether it will help level up your gaming rig.

Addlink was founded in Taiwan in 2014 where it maintains a factory with ISO 9001 / 17021 certifications. They manufacture flash storage, SSDs, and memory. They have created the Addgame brand to host its gaming enthusiast products, namely the Spider series DDR (in both 4 and 5 flavors) as well as M.2 PCIe SSDs. You can find their kit at the usual e-tail outlets.

On our test bench, today is the high end of the Addgame Spider X5 DDR5 line that is intended for the Intel flavor of chips at 6400MHz. There are also 5600MHz and 6000MHz versions available for just a few bucks less. It sports timings of CL38-38-38-76 at 1.3V using an XMP profile. We’re seeing prices in the $110-120 range at the time of publication.

The AddGame Spider X5 RGB 32GB (2×16) 6400MHz Memory comes in a black box adorned with the AG (Addgame, we suspect) logo on top of a green hazy cloud and an image of the memory. The box has enough shiny on it to have made picture retakes at a different angle a requirement. Flipping over to the back, we’ve got the customary mice type in seven languages about its features and a label stating the 32GB kit size, 6400MHz speed, and CL38 timings.  The warranty is not stated on the box, however, online listings indicate it carries a lifetime warranty.

Inside the packaging, we found two 16GB modules labeled with the part number AG16GB64C38X5U BX2. The modules are clad in a black heat spreader which is topped by a castle-like white RGB bar that adds “AddGame”  along the top.

The kits sport Hynix memory modules that have base timings of PC5-38400 (4800MHz) at 42-40-40-77 using 1.1V. Their tested (and marketed) frequency is PC5-51200 (6400MHz) at timings of 38-38-38-76 at 1.3V. They are equipped with a thermal sensor, on-die ECC, and support for your favorite motherboard manufacturer’s RGB bling controller.

From a sizing perspective, the AddGame Spider X5 RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 6400MHz Memory measures in at 1.6” in height, which is a bit smaller than the last few kits that we’ve looked at. If you’re going with a large tower air cooler that doesn’t respect memory headroom, these modules will give you a bit more clearance than other larger modules.
