Throughput Benchmarks (SEQ and RND)

CrystalDiskMark

We are using CrystalDiskMark to benchmark sequential and random throughput of read and write performance. For these NVMe SSDs, we are using the NVMe profile in CrystalDiskMark. This tests SEQ1M Q8T1, SEQ128K Q32T1, RND4K Q32T16, and RND4K Q1T1.

The rated sequential read speed on the Netac NV7000-t 1TB SSD is up to 7300MB/s, and in our testing in SEQ1M Q8T1, we are getting above that actually at 7430MB/s of read speed. The write speed is rated at 6600MB/s, and we are hitting right at that quoted speed here at 6624MB/s. That means, first of all, the SSD is performing as it should, and the quoted speed is being achieved, more than achieved, actually. We can also see that the Netac NV7000-t 1TB is only slightly slower than the NV7000, only by 46MB/s on read and 60MB/s on write, the two SSDs are practically performing the same on sequential read and write. Compared to the ACER Predator GM7, the Netac NV7000-t is even closer in performance, the two are again very similar, and practically the same.

In SEQ128K Q32T1 the Netac NV7000-t 1TB SSD is still performing very strongly in sequential read performance exceeding its quoted speed at 7300MB/s and at its write speed of 6600MB/s. This again puts it without shouting distance of the NV7000 and on par with the read performance of the Acer Predator GM7. However, the write performance of the Netac NV7000-t is actually better than the Acer Predator GM7 by a good amount.

In RND4K Q32T16 performance we find very strong performance on the Netac NV7000-t 1TB SSD. In fact, it is only second in performance on this graph, and actually beats the read performance of the NV7000! First, compared to the NV7000 the NV7000-t has higher read performance, but lower write performance, the NV7000 is a bit better on write. However, look at the Acer Predator GM7, the Netac NV7000-t 1TB SSD is a lot better on read and especially write performance, by a large amount, a very noticeable amount. This means the Netac NV7000-t has a really good random read and performance, really good.

In RND4K Q1T1 performance, the Netac NV7000-t 1TB SSD also has very strong read and write performance, once again better than the Acer Predator GM7 but just under the NV7000 which does beat it on read and write performance.

SUMMARY

We reviewed the Netac NV7000-t 1TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD which is a budget-oriented DRAM-less SSD, and in our testing it performed very well, with strong throughput performance, above average small workload performance, and exceptional access time, file copy and loading times. It runs very cool with the optional heat spreader that you can install and comes in a very slim form factor to fit in many configurations. It has a low than expected endurance, compared to the NV7000, but manages to retain raw performance for the value-minded individual.
