Activision has shared a new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, revealing that the new threequel from Sledgehammer Games will see the return of one of the franchise’s leading antagonists: Vladimir Makarov. A live-action version of Makarov, who was originally introduced in 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (and later killed by John Price in Modern Warfare 3), can be seen in the nearly two-minute trailer, and while it isn’t clear yet whether he’ll die again by hanging this time, his inclusion does tease a campaign experience that may actually rival those from the older games. Makarov was part of the infamous “No Russian” level from the original Modern Warfare 2, which can be skipped by players who didn’t like the idea of gunning down innocents in an airport.
