Throughput Benchmarks (SEQ and RND)

CrystalDiskMark

We are using CrystalDiskMark to benchmark sequential and random throughput of read and write performance. For these NVMe SSDs, we are using the NVMe profile in CrystalDiskMark. This tests SEQ1M Q8T1, SEQ128K Q32T1, RND4K Q32T16, and RND4K Q1T1.

The rated sequential read speed on the Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD is up to 7400MB/s, and in our testing in SEQ1M Q8T1, we are getting above that at 7477MB/s of read speed. This puts it above the quoted specification, and thus the SSD is performing strong and right where it should on read performance. At this level, that puts it among the fastest SSDs for read performance on our graph, comparable to the Acer Predator GM7000, Netac NV7000, and Lexar NM800 PRO on read performance.

The Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD is rated at 7000MB/s write speed, according to the website, in the best-case scenarios. It should be noted that the quoted performance does come with a note that actual performance can vary by hardware and software. Teamgroup used CrystalDiskMark to quote their scores, on the website. In our testing, using the NVMe SSD profile in CrystalDiskMark, we got 6667MB/s write performance in this specific test scenario. That does come short of the 7000MB/s quoted performance by about 333MB/s of write performance.

That write performance does still make it faster than the Lexar NM800 PRO, ADATA LEGEND 960, Acer Predator GM7, and Netac NV7000-t SSDs, some by a good margin. It’s on par with the Acer Predator GM7000 in write performance, while the addlink S95 has the overall fastest write performance.

TEAMGROUP MP44 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD CrystalDiskMark SEQ128K Q32T1

In SEQ128K Q32T1 the Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD is again hitting its mark on read performance at over 7400MB/s, with 7470MB/s read speed. This puts it again at the top of the chart, in line with the Acer Predator GM7000 and ADATA LEGEND 960 for performance. On write speed, we are getting 6682MB/s, slightly higher than the previous test and at this performance, it is fastest than several drives and on par with the ADATA LEGEND 960.

TEAMGROUP MP44 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD CrystalDiskMark RND4K Q32T16

In RND4K Q32T16 performance the Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD provides 4150MB/s read performance, which is not the slowest drive, but also not the fastest. It is faster than the ADATA LEGEND 960 and Acer Predator GM7 here. On write performance, it performs at 3965MB/s which is actually well above some of the SSDs here such as the ADATA LEGEND 960, Acer Predator GM7, and Acer Predator GM7000. It is on par with write performance of the Netac NV7000-t.

TEAMGROUP MP44 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD CrystalDiskMark RND4K Q1T1

In RND4K Q1T1 performance, Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD doesn’t have the lowest read performance but is on the lower side at 81MB/s, beaten by many except the Acer Predator GM7. Its write performance though is more respectable at 241MB/s it is fastest than several SSDs here, including the Acer Predator GM7, ADATA LEGEND 960, Netac NV7000-t, Lexar NM800 PRO, it’s actually fourth in place for write performance, which is pretty high in this comparison.

SUMMARY

We reviewed the TEAMGROUP MP44 2TB PCIe Gen4 M.2 NVMe SSD, which is geared for the value-conscious individual, maintaining fast 7000MB/s+ NVMe PCIe Gen4x4 performance, yet at a great price value as a DRAM-less SSD using the Maxio MAP1602 controller. It provided great read performance, with slightly under write performance, but is feature rich with impressive endurance ratings. It is a very cool running SSD, literally, and compatible with many system configurations. With its very high endurance ratings, and top-tier performance, and great price, it offers a top-notch price value.
