Synthetic Storage Benchmarks
PCMark 10
We are using PCMark 10’s Full System Drive Storage Benchmark. It outputs an overall score (higher is better) that is derived from the Bandwidth (higher is better) as well as access time (lower is better) results.
In PCMark 10’s full system drive storage benchmark, the Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD performs very well, at 3496 it is just shy of the Netac NV7000-t. Both are DRAM-less SSDs, with Host Memory Buffer, and we can see why both SSDs perform really well in this test as we look at the access time below. The Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD is faster than the Acer Predator GM7, also based on the same controller, and faster than the ADATA LEGEND 960, Acer Predator GM7000, addlink S95, Netac NV7000, and Lexar NM800 PRO.
The average access time test in PCMark 10’s Storage Benchmark shows you a closer look at where things line up. The Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD has a very good access time of only 47 microseconds and is lining up as one of the fastest SSDs for access time, matching the Netac NV7000-t. At 47 microseconds, it is also beating the Acer Predator GM7, which has the same controller.
In the above graph, we are testing PCMark 10’s Quick Storage Benchmark, which utilizes a lighter workload of traces meant for smaller drives, it provides an interesting contrast to the wide-ranging test of the full benchmark above. In the quick system drive benchmark the Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD falls down the line, but this is normal for DRAM-less SSDs in this particular test, where we have seen a DRAM cache affect performance with small file access. The Acer Predator GM7 was also very slow (not shown on the graph), but technically the Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD was faster than the Acer Predator GM7 in this test and also beats the Netac NV7000-t in this test.
PassMark PerformanceTEST
We are using PassMark’s PerformanceTEST Disk Mark benchmark only. This test benchmarks Disk Sequential Read, Disk Sequential Write, IOPS 32KQD20, IOPS 4KQD1 tests and outputs an overall score (higher is better.)
In PassMark PerformanceTEST the Teamgroup MP44 2TB SSD provides 40,608 overall score, which is about average or middle of the road, only two other drives on this test are really fast, and that is due to random write performance, especially on the addlink S95. This result is within the norm and not bad at all.
