Introduction

On our test bench, today is the Iceberg Thermal IceSLEET G6 Stealth heatsink fan unit. It joins the other coolers in the IceSLEET family, of which we’ve previously looked at the IceSLEET X5, IceSLEET X6, and IceSLEET X7. Consistent with their naming convention, the number of heatpipes is indicated within the model number – so the IceSLEET G6 Stealth is a 6 heatpipe solution much like the IceSLEET X6.

We’ll strap it to our air cooling test platform that is built around a Ryzen 7 2700X processor with a manufacturer-claimed TDP of 105W. This should provide a reasonable usage case that we are likely to see with some of today’s most demanding air-cooled CPU coolers.

IceSLEET G6 Stealth Overview

The IceSLEET G6 Stealth cooler is an air cooler that is designed to work on a wide variety of sockets, including Intel’s LGA2066/1700/115x/1200/2011-0/2011-3 and AMD’s FM1/FM2/AM2/AM3AM4/AM5. There’s really not anything missing from this compatibility list.

Heatsink

IceSLEET G6 Stealth sports six heat pipes that directly contact the CPU surface without an additional plate to spread heat across. The pipes extend up into an aluminum-finned, nickel-plated dual tower that fully encases it. The entire assembly is black and does not have any LED bling attached to it, which allows it to remain stealthy even under power.

Iceberg Thermal emphasizes the use of the black nickel-plated finish as a way to show a premium finish on the unit. The cooler requires removing the fan and using a long screwdriver to mount it and after that, you can drop the fan in and secure it using the provided hex wrench.

Fan

Iceberg Thermal includes a single 140mm fan that drops into the center of the cooler. The fan supports a fan speed of 600 to 1400 RPM (with Auto START/STOP) at a reported noise level of 26 dB(A). The stated airflow maximum is 85 CFM at a static pressure of 2.2 mmH20 using 2.4W of power. The claimed MTTF is greater than 150,000 hours (Ed: Let’s not test that claim as we’ll never get to publish the review). Lastly, this fan uses a 4-pin PWM connector and sports Fluid Dynamic bearings.

The IceSLEET G6 Stealth presents itself as a medium size black cube that tries to make itself disappear into the night to live up to its stealthy name. It looks quite similar to the MASTERAIR MA624 that happened to lose a couple of pounds.

Let’s move on now to our test setup and installation of the IceSLEET G6 Stealth.

SUMMARY

The Iceberg Thermal G6 Stealth cooler is a single fan, stealthy solution that performed well in our cooling performance tests but wasn't as stealthy as we would have liked from a sound perspective. That being said, it represents a great performer at its price point and certainly worth looking at for your rig.
