Neon Genesis Evangelionwhistles…wow!

ASUS has revealed that the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02 EDITION, a new Evangelion-themed motherboard that the company began selling in September for $699.99, may come with a spelling error.

According to a video from the CEHunter channel, there might be an extra “N” in the Evangelion graphic near the I/O (“Evangenlion”), and while there’s no word yet on why ASUS never bothered getting a proofreader, the company has apologized and confirmed that it will be making things up with not only a warranty extension, but also the option for getting a replacement part.

Here’s what ASUS’ support team had to say, which noted that the problem doesn’t affect system performance:

We have recently received incident reports about the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02 EDITION motherboard regarding the misspelling of the word “Evangelion” on the decorative part located on the left side of the product. We sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.

For users who have already installed the motherboard, it is important to note that the misprint is purely aesthetic and does not affect any functionality or performance. As part of our commitment to resolving this issue, we will extend the warranty by one additional year and implement a replacement program. ASUS will provide a corrected decorative part that end-users can use to replace the misprinted part. If you encounter this issue, please contact your local customer service for more details.

ASUS goes on to thank customers for their understanding and support.

The ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02 EDITION, which supports newer Intel processors but may or may not come with correct spelling, is currently available at retailers that include Micro Center for $699.99.
