CD PROJEKT has shared its financial results for Q3 2023, revealing that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has sold 4.3 million copies since its release on September 26.

Adam KiciÅ„ski, CEO and Board Member of CD PROJEKT, had this say about the performance of Cyberpunk 2077’s first and only expansion, which launched only two months ago for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store:

We are very pleased with the launch of Phantom Liberty. Successful release of the expansion, along with Update 2.0 which introduces a slew of additional improvements, elevates Night City gameplay to another level – in terms of quality. This is an important achievement given our plans to further develop the franchise.

As part of its latest earnings presentation, CD PROJEKT also confirmed that many of its developers have now moved on to “Polaris,” the new mainline Witcher game that will serve as the first installment of a brand-new trilogy, built in Unreal Engine 5:

Kiciński offered more specifics in an earnings call, noting that there are over 300 people working on the new Witcher game now, although that number is only going to get bigger in the months ahead:

The [Polaris] team is steadily growing, having reached almost 330 developers at the end of last month. It’s expected to grow to over 400 by mid-next year.

KiciÅ„ski also talked a little bit about the live-action Cyberpunk movie that CD PROJEKT RED is developing with Anonymous Content, but it doesn’t sound like it’s coming any time soon:

We’re not really discussing specifics here, but one of the obvious things that we have announced, not happening next year, but going to be developed or moved in the direction next year, is the project we have announced with Anonymous Content.
