Jade and Uncle Pey’j are finally back—although it isn’t for a sequel.

As part of Beyond Good & Evil’s 20th anniversary celebrations, Ubisoft has announced that it will be releasing a new version of the game called the Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, one that will feature all of the usual enhancements that can be found in a modern remaster, including 4K graphics, 60 FPS, and more.

This announcement was originally scheduled for a later date, but apparently, Ubisoft had no choice but to share the news after an early version of the game was accidentally released on its subscription service:

An early development version of Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition was recently released to some Ubisoft+ subscribers by mistake. We apologize for any confusion and want to assure our community that this version is not indicative of the final game.

Ubisoft went on to confirm that Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition should be out in a couple of months:

We’re excited to announce that the official launch is set for early 2024, and we’re dedicated to making it an experience that truly honors the legacy of the original. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

According to a now-removed listing of the game on the Xbox Store, where it also leaked, Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition will also offer improved controls and audio, as well as new auto-save and cross-save features.

The original Beyond Good & Evil released in 2003, while its sequel, Beyond Good & Evil 2, is supposedly still in development in Ubisoft.

Many seem to believe that the sequel is vaporware, as Ubisoft has been teasing the game as far back as 2008.
