AMD has published a new video that shows off how Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora might perform on some of its latest hardware when the newest version of its upscaling technology, FSR, is enabled.

According to the video, which is titled “100+ FPS AMD Gaming Experience,” Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Radeon RX 7900 XT users can expect to see average frame rates of up to 136 FPS in Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s new game at 4K Ultra settings with ray tracing when FSR 3 and Frame Gen are on (Performance Mode, according to the fine print).

AMD goes on to show how lesser RDNA 3 GPUs can achieve frame rates of over 100 FPS with FSR 3, too, with the 7800X3D/7700 XT (1440p Ultra) and 7800X3D/7600 (1080p Ultra) segments showing an average FPS of 115 and 109, respectively.

And while the Radeon RX 7900 XTX seems to be missing from the video, the flagship RDNA 3 GPU can achieve average frame rates of 148 FPS, according to additional benchmarks that AMD shared as part of a separate blog post:

“This is one of the first games that raytracing is embedded in all settings, so those of you playing on older hardware might be due for an upgrade for the best experience,” AMD’s Oguzhan_Andic wrote. “AMD has worked closely with Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment to ensure a smooth, high FPS gaming experience at Ultra settings with beautiful raytracing on AMD Radeon graphics cards and AMD Ryzen processors.”

As for how accurate AMD’s numbers are, ComputerBase has shared its own benchmarks, showing how FSR 3 compares to NVIDIA DLSS:

And here are some thoughts on the game, which, according to some critics, is beautiful, but not particularly groundbreaking in terms of gameplay:

If you’re a fan of Ubisoft’s open world formula, you’re going to love Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. No, it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it doesn’t have to. The gorgeous world of Pandora makes for a fantastic playground that simply begs to be explored.

If you adore or simply enjoy Cameron’s sci-fi world, you will appreciate your time in this action-adventure title. But, if you were hoping that you would see the impact and talent of Massive shining through, introducing new, unique, and game changing mechanics and systems, you’ll be sorely disappointed.

Frontiers of Pandora’ may occasionally feel like a reskinned ‘Far Cry’, but it absolutely nails the ambience and atmosphere of James Cameron’s eco-scifi world. One of those rare licensed games that retroactively improves the source material it’s based on.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Amazon Luna.
