The Intel Arc site has shared an article echoing Intel’s announcement of its brand-new Core Ultra mobile CPUs today, noting that the new chips feature built-in Intel Arc GPUs, providing a higher level of gaming performance than what Intel users might find in the company’s older iGPUs.

Per a section titled “gaming on the go,” the Core Ultra, thanks to its built-in Arc GPU with up to eight Xe cores, is said to do a pretty good job of running today’s most popular games in full HD:

Expanding upon the work done over the last year for Intel Arc desktop and laptop discrete graphics, built-in Intel Arc GPUs deliver smooth gaming for up to 60 frames per second at 1080p Medium settings across many popular games.

Assisting with that appears to be XeSS, Intel’s alternative to NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR:

With AI accelerated upscaling capabilities, Intel Xe Super Sampling (XeSS) enables plenty of modern games to run at 60 FPS. Over 80 games now feature XeSS, so there’s something for everyone! Surprisingly in an ultrathin laptop, you can also get smooth gameplay with ray tracing activated in select games for photorealistic reflections and shadows. Even some of the most demanding games run above 30 FPS, opening up new worlds for such a portable package. If you’ve been along for the ride of our continuous driver updates, you know that older games run better than ever on Intel Arc GPUs too.

As for how those performance claims measure up to third-party tests, here are some of the benchmarks that HardwareLuxx, one of the first publications to try out the flagship Core Ultra 7 155H, shared as part of its analysis posted today:

“…when it comes to playability in real games, you still have to reduce the resolution or detail level. If you go from ultra-high to medium at F1 22 at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, you can almost triple the image output and achieve well over 60 frames per second. With The Witcher 3, the performance can be almost doubled, but Doom only increases marginally,” the site mentioned.

Per Intel’s listings, the Core Ultra family comprises nine CPUs, all of which will be powering new AI PCs from Acer, ASUS, Dell, Dynabook, Gigabyte, Google Chromebook, HP, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft Surface, MSI, Samsung, and other brands/manufacturers.

“The [Arc] GPU includes support for modern graphics features including hardware-accelerated ray tracing, mesh shading, AV1 encode and decode, HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 20G,” Intel noted in its announcement.
