Throughput Benchmarks (SEQ and RND)
CrystalDiskMark
We are using CrystalDiskMark to benchmark sequential and random throughput of read and write performance. For these NVMe SSDs, we are using the NVMe profile in CrystalDiskMark. This tests SEQ1M Q8T1, SEQ128K Q32T1, RND4K Q32T16, and RND4K Q1T1.
The rated sequential speed on the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR SSD is 12,400 MB/s read and 11,800 MB/s write. In the SEQ1M Q8T1 test, we are perfectly hitting the read speed at 12,403 MB/s. The write speed falls just a bit under at 11,676 MB/s, but is not far off the mark. On multiple runs, this write speed varied a bit, and in one test it was closer to the mark at 11,700 MB/s. Write speed will depend on the workload.
Compared to the competition, it is competitive with the read speed of the CORSAIR MP700 PRO, both SSDs have the same rated speed, and they are within the margin of error. Compared to the write speed, the CORSAIR MP700 PRO has a slight advantage of 165 MB/s or 1.4%, so very close. However, compared to the ADATA LEGEND 970 the differences are very large. The MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR has a read speed that is 2,324 MB/s faster or 23% and a write speed that is 1,484 MB/s faster or 15%.
Once again, we really see the advantages the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR has over the previous generation MSI SPATIUM M480 HS and M470. The MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR has a read speed that is 5,225 MB/s faster and a write speed that is 4,923 MB/s faster. Compared to the MSI SPATIUM M470 the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is 7,414 MB/s faster on read and 7,408 MB/s faster on write, that’s an entire high-speed Gen4 SSD worth of SSD performance upgrade over the M470.
If we put those numbers into percentages, then the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is 73% faster on read speed compared to the M480 and 149% faster on read speed compared to the M470. On write speed the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is 73% faster than the M480 and 174% faster than the M470.
Finally, compared to the fastest Gen4 SSD on the graph, the Acer Predator GM7000 the new MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR offers a 4,923 MB/s read speed or 66% and a 5,004 MB/s write speed or 75% greater throughput.
In SEQ128K Q32T1 the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR falls in line with the CORSAIR MP700 PRO as well here, with performance that falls under by just 1.5% in read and write, similar to the above testing. Compared to the ADATA LEGEND 970 the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is much faster at 22% faster read speed and 14% faster write speed. Once again compared to the previous generation M480 and M470 is huge with the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR having a 78% faster read speed than the M480 and a 144% faster read speed than the M470. On write speed the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR has a 70% advantage over the M480 and a 173% advantage over the M470.
In RND4K Q32T16 performance the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is lining up once again closely with the CORSAIR MP700 PRO, a mere difference that isn’t even half a percent on read, and just 1.5% on write. This shows that the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR has very strong random read and write performance, which outpaces every PCIe Gen4 SSD by pretty big differences. The ADATA LEGEND 970 has an abnormally fast write performance, which outpaces both of the other PCIe Gen5 SSDs. However, on random read performance, the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is 4% faster than the ADATA LEGEND 970.
Compared to the MSI SPATIUM M480 HS and M470 the differences are very large here. The MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR has a 123% performance advantage on read compared to the M470 and 135% over the M470. On write performance, the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is 88% faster than the M470 and 81% faster than the M480 HS. Even compared to the fastest Gen4 SSD, the Acer Predator GM700, the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR has a 44% faster read and 65% faster write speed.
In RND4K Q1T1 performance, the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is also at the top of its game, matching the CORSAIR MP700 PRO for write performance at 287 MB/s, though the ADATA LEGEND 970 is slightly faster by 2%. On read performance, the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR also matches the CORSAIR MP700 PRO and is slightly faster than the ADATA LEGEND 970.
When comparing to the MSI SPATIUM M480 HS and M470 we see big gains once again. The MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is 10% faster than the M480 on write and 39% faster than the M470. On read the MSI SPATIUM M570 PRO 2TB FROZR is 11% faster than the M480 and 32% faster than the M470.
