A slide rumored to be PlayStation Studios PC game sales figures from Steam has surfaced online showing the two biggest sellers for Sony in 2022-2023. The sales data, spanning from August 22 to 2023, clearly indicates that, up to then, Horizon Zero Dawn which was released in August 2020, followed by God of War, released in January 2022, had led the pack in units sold on PC with 3.3 million and 2.5 million units sold respectively. Both franchises have gone on to spawn sequels with blockbuster sales on the PlayStation 5 console and are expected to get PC versions as well.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered had quickly begun gaining ground with 1.3 million units sold within six months of release and its spinoff game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales had almost a half million units sold in just three months of being launched. Other notable sales figures included Days Gone, released in May 2021, at 1.7 million units sold, and Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection, released in October 2022, which also managed close to a half million units sold. Sackboy: A Big Adventure trailed far behind at just under 63 thousand units sold after being released in October 2022.

PlayStation Studios 2023-2024 releases

PlayStation Studios continued to have more games arrive on PC in 2023 and more are expected in 2024. The Last of Us Part I had a bit of a rocky start in the early part of the year but after some hefty patches, it seems to have reached to solid state on PC. A remastered version of Part II is believed to be in the works and could also make its way to PC in the coming year. Meanwhile, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart also made its debut back in July. Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition is said to be on its way in early 2024. God of War Ragnarok could also get a 2024 PC release but Sony has not confirmed this yet.

Sony also has had another huge hit on its consoles with the recent release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but it would indeed be a surprise if it arrived in 2024. PC owners should likely not get their hopes up for it until at least 2025. However, it has been a week of rumored leaks for Insomniac Games, the developer behind the sequel, after a reported hack to its servers revealed more Marvel games in the pipeline for both the PlayStation and PC.

As a child of the 70’s I was part of the many who became enthralled by the video arcade invasion of the 1980’s. Saving money from various odd jobs I purchased my first computer from a friend of my dad, a used Atari 400, around 1982. Eventually it would end up being a lifelong passion of upgrading and modifying equipment that, of course, led into a career in IT support.
